Sermon on Sept.26th 2010: An Act of Worship from Abraham

Genesis 22 Abraham Tested 1 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, "Abraham!" "Here I am," he replied. Some time later means that several years after Isaac was born. So, some time later after Isaac was born, Abraham heard God's voice again. Abraham knew it was God's voice, he recognized it was HIS voice. This means that Abraham had a deep and intimate relationship with God. Think, do you still recognize your best friend's voice after 10 years absence? Probably not. However, Abraham could still recognize God's voice although He did not speak to him for 10 or 11 years. 2 Then God said, "Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about." 3 Early the next morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey.
